James G. Kaighin, Jr., CFP®

Financial Professional

Jim Kaighin, CFP, began with Momentum Independent Network Inc. in 2011, previously employed with Choice Investments since 1998. Jim graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor of science in Management and a minor in Finance, and chose to focus his career on financial planning. Upon completing the Financial Planning Certificate Program at the University of Texas, and passing the CFP Board Examination, Jim became a Certified Financial Planner in January 2008.

Jim has currently chosen to focus his practice on the retirement planning needs of individuals and business owners, in addition to general investments for families who are in the accumulation phase of their life. His experience in municipal bonds provides a competent resource for clients who are nearing the distribution phase, or who are in need of consistent income with lower volatility.

Jim was born and raised in Austin, TX and is actively involved in the community in a number of ways, focusing most of his efforts on underserved children. Jim has been an active member of the Young Men's Business League since 2003, which serves nearly 1,000 high-potential yet underserved children through their Austin Sunshine Camps. Jim was elected as the YMBL president in 2010 after serving as an active board member beginning in 2006. Jim is also involved in the West Austin Rotary Club, Clemson Alumni Association, and Beta Theta Pi Alumni Association. Past services include the LCRA Lake Austin Advisory Panel (2003-2005), OWANA board of directors (2004), and Austin Under 40 Awards co-chair (2008). Jim and his wife, Katie, live in Central Austin, and are the proud parents of twin daughters, Alexis and Vivian.
